Special Grading Considerations for some Categories
& Vintage Clothing Sizing Charts

How we measure Vintage Clothing:

We will always include the measurement label if it exists in the item. However, since sizes have changed many times over the years, particularly with women's clothing, and sizes both today and decades past vary from manufacturer to manufacturer we always like to take actual measurements.

We will post pictures to illustrate these measurement techniques as soon as we can though we hope they are self explanatory.

Blouses, shirts, jackets, dresses and coats
are measured pretty much the same. A measurement is taken from one underarm seam to another and then doubled.

Expect the waist on dresses to taper down unless it is a straight line fashion. This tapering will be true with blouses and shirts as well just as they taper today.

We will note any extreme or unusual tapers on all items

Eye and Sun Glasses
will indicate the measurement across the temple/brow from highest end point to end point. We will also provide 2 measurements for the arms, one which will start at the end of the arm to the bend in the hinge and another that will provide the entire length to the highest end point of the temple/brow.

Hats
will generally only be included when the original size tag is still attached so standard hat measurements will apply. Hats marked with generic "large", etc. will include some basic size information such as diameter.

Pants and slacks
will always include the waist measurement followed by the length of the inseam. Inseam measurements are measured from the meeting seam in the center of the crotch to the edge of the cuff. Often additional selvage material exists for alteration purposes and this will be mentioned as well.

When smoking jackets and robes have actual button closures the measurements will follow those of other jackets and a simple underarm seam to underarm seam measurement, as with blouses and shirts, will be done. Generally this is not the case and we will generally lightly overlap the lapels and take the underarm measurement this way to show the largest size. Keep in mind that with this measurement belted robes and smoking jackets will fit many other sizes.

With regards to Children's / Kid's Vintage Clothing - Unless you are super short, these clothes will not fit an adult despite the chest/bust measurements.
